Editorial Policy

OUR MISSION

To connect fans, athletes, parents, billets, coaches, and front office staff with news and commentary about the game they love, Junior Hockey, and to tell the human stories that surround the game.

EDITORIAL PRINCIPLES

Excellence. We proactively pursue timely and pertinent information for our readers while setting a superior standard for editorial quality.

ACCURACY

Facts come first. The news, scores, statistics, and player transactions we publish must be accurate. We rigorously fact-check and review every piece of content we publish because everyone deserves accurate information. We also review articles for accuracy post-publication and update content as we receive new information.

AUTONOMY

We separate news from commentary, and neither are biased by our advertisers or marketing partners. This separation is intended to serve our reader, who are entitled to the facts in the news posts and to opinions in commentary without regard to commercial or financial interests.

FAIRNESS

We treat all sources, leagues, teams, and subject manner consistently, without omitting facts of major importance, without including irrelevant information at the expense of significant facts, with honesty, and with diligent effort to seek both sides of every story.

OPENNESS

We invite everyone to contribute to the conversation.

TRANSPARENCY

We actively share our guidelines, rules, and processes.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

We champion diversity in what we do and in our sport.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Our social media channels enable us to reach our readers in more personal and informal ways. We value our editorial writers and contributor’s ability to build positive communities and influence on our social media platforms and their own. We expect content on all associated social media platforms to follow our Editorial Guidelines.

HARASSMENT

Online and offline harassment are a real and growing problem, and it can have potentially life-changing consequences for those it targets. We take seriously the impact this can have on our employees and contributors and will use suitable measures to protect them. If an employee or contributor is found to be involved in conducting or encouraging the harassment of an individual, we will take appropriate action.
